Jude Henderson lives and works from a very rustic and very inspired cottage at Bakersbridge, Milltown Belturbet . Born in Cavan, Jude emigrated to Canada in 1986 but returned to his Cavan roots in 2008. Drawing inspiration from time spent in Canada,  Jude has been  inspired further  by  the lakes, rivers  and the rich natural heritage of rural Cavan,  Jude has strived  to strike a balance between the cultural and natural worlds:

“There is a tendency for humanity to pursue paths leading to materialistic gains so much so that the material has become almost essential. I want to think we can find the balance between the natural state of what was meant to be for humanity and the cultural/material that is now essential; I want to find a balance whereby nature can provide the materials to make life work”.

Photography remains Judes chief medium. Drawing from the wealth of imagery in Irish and particularly Cavan based landscapes.  Jude seeks to portray the natural world in a natural and wholly aesthetic state.  An image is a thousand words and Cavan is the encyclopaedia. Jude worked intensively with stone in Canada and a second medium has emerged in the form of slate. Jude wanted to frame his photos uniquely and began making slate photo frames. Since then Jude has begun making slate mirrors, clocks, and kitchenware, and as experience allows his portfolio grows.
