Bear Essentials & Silver Bear Centre, a visitor attraction, teddy bear gift shop and centre for crafts & nature workshops, was founded in 2000 by Anke Morgenroth.
Anke, original from Germany is living since 1984 in Ireland and has brought some of the teddy bear tradition with her. She designs one off limited edition Mohair Teddy Bears who can be personalised to your own desire. Her most famous teddy bear collections are the “Little Rascals”(also available as a craft kit), “Cuilcagh Mountain Bears”, “Lakeland Bears” and her “Traditional Bears”.
Since 2010 she added a Baby Essentials Range of 100% baby gifts like “My First Teddy”, Changing Mats, Baby Rugs and Comforters to her repertoire. To keep the teddy bear making tradition alive Anke is running workshops for families, schools and tourists groups all year around in the Silver Bear Centre. During the summer school in Collector Teddy Bear Making children as young as 5 years of age are sewing their own Mohair teddy bear. While the Silver Bear Centre, outside green houses and gardens provide customers with a unique craft and nature experience the teddy bear gift shop houses probably the largest variety of teddy bears in Ireland. It stocks Steiff bears, Charlie Bears, Bukowski Bears and others besides traditional toys and Baby gifts.
Bear Essentials is open all year round. Bear Essentials teddy bear hospital looks after the restoration of old or tattered bears. All workshops have to be pre booked. Bears are also available on Bear Essentials online shop.
